    I have become aware of the writings of Joseph Campbell lately and have been profoundly affected.  His concept of the "Hero's Journey" is something I think we can all relate to in some way, shape or form.  If you view your life in this regard, things do begin to look differently.  Everything, the good, the bad, etc., begins to have real meaning, especially when you start to realize that you are not alone of this journey, but also surrounded by others facing a similar.....

I can't tell you the number of times I have heard very experienced leaders make a statement like, "I hope it works out" or "we're hopeful that the results will be positive." Hope is not a strategy; it's a feeling or in some cases an emotion. Don't leave this seed of doubt in your or other's minds. When communicating with your staff try and use the active rather than passive voice - be affirmative. Of course business (and life) can sometimes be a game of chance, however, always operate as if the odds are in your favor. More importantly, do everything you can, so that they are.
