Summary of Mark Cissell’s leadership interview
Mark Cissell is owner of Next Chapter Consultants, where he helps businesses understand their financial statements and improve efficiency and profitability. Formerly the longtime CEO of the Baltimore mid-market CPA firm KatzAbosch, he spent at least 12 years in Ed Robinson’s Vistage group. He says Vistage’s biggest gift was helping him think less like a manager and more like a CEO and owner — taking a holistic view, delegating, and being the visionary instead of the person in the weeds. His words of wisdom: don’t sweat the small stuff, learn to delegate and leverage yourself, and understand there will always be obstacles — the most successful people get through them and keep moving.
