Leadership Reset & Renewal

Sometimes the Leader Needs a Reset Too

Leadership can be incredibly rewarding. It can also be exhausting.

When you are responsible for a business, a team, a family, and countless decisions that seem to find their way to your desk, it is easy to become so focused on what everyone else needs that you stop paying attention to what is happening with you.

You keep going.

You solve the next problem. Attend the next meeting. Make the next decision. Deal with the next crisis.

And somewhere along the way, you can lose some of the energy, clarity, optimism, and sense of purpose that made you an effective leader in the first place.

That doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong.

Sometimes it simply means it is time for a reset.

The Leadership Reset & Renewal exercise was created to give you an opportunity to step away from the noise for a few minutes and take an honest look at where you are—not just as a leader, but as a person.

This guided seven-stage renewal journey will challenge you to think about what you may need to let go of, where you need to recover, how your identity as a leader may be changing, and what you want the next chapter of your leadership to look like.

This isn’t about abandoning your responsibilities.

It is about making sure you still have the energy, perspective, and sense of purpose necessary to meet them.

Leadership renewal requires honesty. Some things that worked for you in the past may no longer serve you. Some responsibilities may need to be delegated. Some expectations may need to change. Some habits may need to end. And there may be something important you have been postponing because you have been too busy dealing with everything else.

As you work through the exercise, resist the temptation to rush.

Give yourself permission to think.

What do I need to let go of?

What do I need to recover?

Who am I becoming as a leader?

What deserves more of my energy—and what deserves less?

And perhaps most importantly:

What is the one bold move I know I need to make next?

At the end, you will bring your thinking together into a personal Renewal Plan—something practical you can use to move forward with greater clarity and intention.

A reset isn’t a retreat from leadership.

Sometimes it is exactly what allows you to return to leadership with renewed energy, perspective, and purpose.
